Our Vision and Intent

We are passionate about nurturing our children to become compassionate, curious and knowledgeable global citizens in the 21st century. With this in mind, we have designed our curriculum with the golden thread of sustainability and environmental education woven throughout. Our aim is for children to engage deeply with the environment and understand that everyone can make a difference. We want our pupils to develop an understanding of environmental issues and challenges, while maintaining a sense of hope and connection with the natural world—both locally and globally.

We will achieve this through:

• A knowledge- and language-rich curriculum, enabling children to learn both substantive and disciplinary knowledge through the National Curriculum.

• Purposeful and inclusive learning, including enquiry-led questions and project-based topics.

• Interweaving environmental themes and units of work throughout our curriculum and across all key stages.

• Careful planning for progression and sequencing of learning to build on children’s knowledge and support long-term retention.

• Teaching and sharing high-quality texts and stories to ensure our children become fluent, confident readers and develop a lifelong love of reading.

• Enrichment experiences and opportunities in Oxfordshire and beyond, designed to enhance learning and inspire awe and wonder.

• Celebrating our learning through pupil voice, our books, final projects and learning exhibitions.

• Embedding our school values and learning habits to ensure all members of our school community thrive and contribute positively to the world around them.
